Top tips for eyecare
  • Have regular eye tests: Start with a 30-minute eye test at least every two years. You may need to be tested more often if you have particular eye conditions or if you're over 40.
  • Protect your eyes from UV rays: the damage done by UV rays can be irreversible, so make it a habit to wear your shades when outdoors, even on cloudy days when UV light can still penetrate. You should only wear sunglasses with a minimum Sunglass Standards category of 2.
  • Eat well and exercise: your eyes love a diet rich in antioxidants and omega oils, so include fruit, nuts, oily fish and eggs in your diet.
  • Rest your eyes: make sure you take regular breaks from starting at a computer, tablet or mobile phone and blink frequently to reduce dry eyes and irritation.
